How the Doorman Routine works
We arrange for realistic-looking doormen in full bouncer kit—earpiece, hi-vis, and clipboard—to 'arrive' and speak to a chosen guest or table. The bouncers act stern and professional, claiming there's been a complaint or issue that needs addressing. They escort the guest away for a brief moment, building tension in the room. When the audience is wondering what's going on, the bouncers return and launch into song, turning the drama into a big, funny musical moment. We time the reveal to fit your meal service and play with the crowd's curiosity. The act can be played intimidating or tongue-in-cheek depending on what you want. We also coordinate with venue staff so the moment is safe and runs smoothly.
Planning and timing
We start planning with you and the venue to pick the best moment for the surprise, usually during dinner or right before speeches. We check guest lists and seating to pick the right person to involve and make sure the venue team knows when and where we’ll be working.
We rehearse entrances and exits so nothing looks staged. If you want a gentler surprise, we keep things light; if you want a loud, viral moment we ramp up the energy and end with a big sing-along.
What to expect on the night
